From city festivals to city cemeteries, from golf courses to computer courses, SPAR does a lot more than just parks and recreation. It is our purpose to help make Shreveport a better place to live & visit.

SPAR maintains over 5,000 acres of land, 132 buildings, 63 park areas, 10 city pools, and Clyde Fant Parkway. SPAR also helps in event planning for the Independence Bowl, Festival Plaza events, RiverView Hall/Theater, public festivals & parades. Year round SPAR offers programs for all age groups, from young to young at heart. We improve the quality of life in Shreveport on a daily basis. 2011 SPAR Bond Projects

The City of Shreveport and Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission have launched the official website for the 2013 Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase. The link is:

SPAR five (5) public swimming pools will officially open Tuesday, June 4th. The pool season ends Sunday, July 28th for all pools except Southern Hills, which ends on Sunday, August 11th.
