C. Bickham Dickson Park is over three times larger than any other SPAR park or facility. The park is located on Old River Lake in southeast Shreveport.
The park features equestrian trails and a fishing dock. Small boats are welcome on the 200 acre lake, but gasoline motors are prohibited and a Cross Lake sticker is required. Call the Cross Lake patrol at 318-673-7245 for information on stickers.
The park is also home of the Red River Education and Research Park (RRERP), created by a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the city and LSUS in 2000. RRERP functions include development of the C. Bickham Dickson Park and its facilities as a center for natural resource management and futhering the study of the Red River Basin by development of educational and research activities in C. Bickham Dickson Park and other locations. Research is ongoing at the park in a variety of disciplines, including water quality, flora and fauna.
